Tips on Choosing a Free Rehab Center in Birmingham, AL

  • Make sure the center is accredited. Accreditation means that the center has met certain standards of quality and patient care. You can find accredited rehab centers by visiting the websites of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Check the center's track record. How long has the center been in operation? What is its success rate? You can find this information by reading online reviews or by contacting the center directly.
  • Consider the center's treatment approach. Does the center offer a variety of treatment modalities, or does it focus on one approach? What is the center's philosophy on addiction treatment?
  • Find out what the center's aftercare program is like. Aftercare is essential to long-term recovery. Make sure the center you choose offers a comprehensive aftercare program.
  • Make sure the center is a good fit for you. Consider your individual needs and preferences when choosing a rehab center. For example, if you have a co-occurring mental health disorder, you'll need to find a center that offers dual diagnosis treatment.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Ask about the center's admission process. What documentation do you need to provide? Is there a waiting list?
  • Find out what the center's policies are on insurance and financial assistance. Will the center accept your insurance? Does the center offer financial assistance to patients who need it?
  • Visit the center in person, if possible. This will give you a chance to meet the staff, see the facilities, and get a feel for the center's atmosphere.
  • Talk to people who have been to the center. Ask them about their experiences and whether they would recommend the center to others.
Choosing a rehab center is an important decision. By following these tips, you can find a free rehab center in Birmingham, AL that is right for you.

Heroin and 6 months

My brother is an alcoholic living in Alabama. He needs help. He has no money and has been living with our mother who is 90 yrs old. She is going to throw him out of the house apparently. He knows he needs assistance but doesn’t know where to turn. I live in Colorado and am not close. Is there any thing you may be able to help with?

I want to be the best me I can be, to be the man my wife and children deserve, again. Also I want to understand, on a mental aspect, why I feel as if I need a substance to feel "whole"... I want to know what is "missing" in my personal life.

Free Rehab Centers in Nearby Cities

Since many of our rehab centers are sliding scale, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the The Salvation Army Family Birmingham Rehabilitation Center website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care based on your income from the sliding fee scale.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2023

Persons In Family Household Poverty Guideline Salary per year
1 $14,580
2 $19,720
3 $24,860
4 $30,000
5 $35,140
6 $40,280
7 $45,420
8 $50,560

For Households with more than 8 persons, add $4,480 for each additional person.
*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free treatment from some substance abuse centers, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

I need assistance with my nephew who is really hooked on meth. Please help

2019-11-02 22:32:37

I just left the ARC after 4.5 months. The facility is clean. There is plenty of food. There are people working there who genuinely care about the beneficiaries. This program is, in reality, a slave-labor program that compels its clients to work 40 hours or more a week in a warehouse/distribution setting for free, or 7-20 dollars a week. With the exception of two, every paid employee of the center is using drugs. This is NOT a place for someone who is just coming from jail, or is addicted to narcotics. The door is always unlocked, you can leave anytime, and clients are literally surrounded by easily stolen goods that can often trigger theft and consequent relapse. Their religious views will be shoved down one's throat vehemently, different views are not an option. Many of the people who work there are addicts, and are still actively addicted, and as such, will go to any length to protect themselves from getting caught. This usually results in clients being unfairly accused in order to divert attention from the real violators. It is the sole discretion of the addict staff members to kick out a client. This can happen at 11pm at night, and the person is given black garbage bags with their clothes in it, and told to leave, regardless of weather, time, financial status, living situation, etc. Do not go there unless you have no other option. In July 2019, 34 people came in, and 33 left or were terminated.

2020-06-24 19:15:49

I am contacting you all on behalf of my 40 year old brother. He is need of help, immediately. He has been using drugs for quite some time over 5 or more years. Currently, he is in jail (using meth, crack, synthetics, etc.) and will be released Monday. This is because he took some drugs and nearly burned down my mother's home. We are at our wits end to get him help. We are trying and have tried everything we know to do. Help beyond us is needed now. He will not make it to see his next birthday. We are needing direction, contacts or information to get him the proper help. Please help

I'm inquiring If there are any openings. I'm currently in the Birmingham area and would really like to meet and talk with someone about your program.
