About Addiction Recovery Care Association

ARCAs addiction recovery program is based in person centered philosophy and current best practice, evidenced based approaches. The ARCA program consists of a series of therapeutic activities which include psycho-educational groups on topics appropriate to personal recovery, group and individual therapy, and opportunity for clients and family to participate in a multi-family group experience. Clients are encouraged to experience and participate in 12 step self-help groups as well as other natural support groups. ARCA provides comprehensive assessment of individual needs and treatment planning through a multi-disciplinary team approach. The treatment program is a variable length program starting at 14 days.

Is this treatment center really free?

Most of the listings on this website are free; however, we decided it would also be helpful for our visitors to see sliding scale treatment centers (which are based on your income and you can qualify for free treatment) and low cost rehab centers for low income persons.

Tips on Choosing a Free Rehab Center in Winston Salem, NC

  • Make sure the center is accredited. Accreditation means that the center has met certain standards of quality and patient care. You can find accredited rehab centers by visiting the websites of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Check the center's track record. How long has the center been in operation? What is its success rate? You can find this information by reading online reviews or by contacting the center directly.
  • Consider the center's treatment approach. Does the center offer a variety of treatment modalities, or does it focus on one approach? What is the center's philosophy on addiction treatment?
  • Find out what the center's aftercare program is like. Aftercare is essential to long-term recovery. Make sure the center you choose offers a comprehensive aftercare program.
  • Make sure the center is a good fit for you. Consider your individual needs and preferences when choosing a rehab center. For example, if you have a co-occurring mental health disorder, you'll need to find a center that offers dual diagnosis treatment.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Ask about the center's admission process. What documentation do you need to provide? Is there a waiting list?
  • Find out what the center's policies are on insurance and financial assistance. Will the center accept your insurance? Does the center offer financial assistance to patients who need it?
  • Visit the center in person, if possible. This will give you a chance to meet the staff, see the facilities, and get a feel for the center's atmosphere.
  • Talk to people who have been to the center. Ask them about their experiences and whether they would recommend the center to others.
Choosing a rehab center is an important decision. By following these tips, you can find a free rehab center in Winston Salem, NC that is right for you.

An outpatient treatment will not work I need inpatient

I lost everything in just a few months, my kids, car, home, family, everything I loved and worked my whole life for was gone. It happened so fast and I let it get way too far. I've missed so much. Ive had to sleep outside, sleep at complete strangers homes, had my best friend turn me into the police and got felony charges. I've had to do things I'll never forgive myself for just to get high. I don't want to live like this. I want help.

My abuse went from opiates to heroin. With in two months I became homeless, I lost 30 lbs, got a paraph. charge, have had everything I own stolen, raped and almost OD. My gerd, ADD, anxiety and depression have all gotten so much worse because I can't afford to go to a Dr. and get my meds since I'm unable to hold down a job right now. I'm tired of living like this and desperately want help.

Free Rehab Centers in Nearby Cities

Since many of our rehab centers are sliding scale, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Addiction Recovery Care Association website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care based on your income from the sliding fee scale.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2023

Persons In Family Household Poverty Guideline Salary per year
1 $14,580
2 $19,720
3 $24,860
4 $30,000
5 $35,140
6 $40,280
7 $45,420
8 $50,560

For Households with more than 8 persons, add $4,480 for each additional person.
*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free treatment from some substance abuse centers, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
