Outpatient substance use disorder services are available for persons who have used drugs or alcohol or have been diagnosed as chemically dependent, if they can be treated in the community.
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) refers to the overuse of or dependence on drugs or alcohol leading to effects that are harmful to a persons physical and mental well-being, or the welfare of those around them.
The definition of SUD can be summarized as the compulsive use of a substance despite ongoing negative consequences.
LFS offers outpatient assessments, referrals, intensive outpatient treatment and family support education.
Through these interventions, the abuser learns their issues are not unique and can be addressed.
Family and loved ones are also taught coping skills to assist them in supporting the user build a healthier lifestyle.
