About Outside in Pathway to Recovery Outpatient
The Outpatient Program views addiction as a primary, chronic disease with genetic, psycho-social andenvironmental factors influencing development and manifestation. Their clinical work is guided in part by the Transtheoretical "stages of change" model based on research conducted by Prochaska and DeClemente. All individuals, despite diverse and complex backgrounds go through five distinct phases of change with predictable processes at each stage. The stages are Precontemplation, Contemplation, Preparation, Action, and Maintenance. A client can cycle through these stages in a variety of time frames depending on individual factors.
