Operation Bootstrap is The Salvation Army of Baton Rouge's alcohol and drug rehabilitation program designed to help men of all ages overcome their addictions.

By providing counseling, medical assistance, food, shelter, and most importantly, spiritual guidance, the program successfully helps men rebuild their lives.

Next Step Transitional HousingThe lack of affordable housing and sufficient support structure makes life difficult for individuals moving from rehabilitation back into life on their own.

In the Next Step transitional housing program, men who have completed a rehabilitation program live in transitional housing while working, saving money and rebuilding their lives.

The Salvation Army of Baton Rouge serves people in East and West Baton Rouge, Ascension, Iberville, Livingston, East and West Feliciana, Pointe Coupee, Saint Helena and Saint James parishes.

Is this treatment center really free?

Most of the listings on this website are free; however, we decided it would also be helpful for our visitors to see sliding scale treatment centers and low cost rehab centers for low income persons.

Since many of our rehab centers are sliding scale, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Salvation Army of Baton Rouge Alcohol Drug Rehab website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care based on your income from the sliding fee scale.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2022

Persons In Family Household Poverty Guideline Salary per year
1 $12,880
2 $17,420
3 $21,960
4 $26,500
5 $31,040
6 $35,580
7 $40,120
8 $44,660

For Households with more than 8 persons, add $4,480 for each additional person.
*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free treatment from some substance abuse centers, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

My 44 year old stepson is currently homeless and has tested positive for COVID19. Can you help him or suggest another facility? We are unable to care for him as we are both in our 70s. Please advise. Thank you
