Tips on Choosing a Free Rehab Center in Panama City, FL

  • Make sure the center is accredited. Accreditation means that the center has met certain standards of quality and patient care. You can find accredited rehab centers by visiting the websites of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Check the center's track record. How long has the center been in operation? What is its success rate? You can find this information by reading online reviews or by contacting the center directly.
  • Consider the center's treatment approach. Does the center offer a variety of treatment modalities, or does it focus on one approach? What is the center's philosophy on addiction treatment?
  • Find out what the center's aftercare program is like. Aftercare is essential to long-term recovery. Make sure the center you choose offers a comprehensive aftercare program.
  • Make sure the center is a good fit for you. Consider your individual needs and preferences when choosing a rehab center. For example, if you have a co-occurring mental health disorder, you'll need to find a center that offers dual diagnosis treatment.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Ask about the center's admission process. What documentation do you need to provide? Is there a waiting list?
  • Find out what the center's policies are on insurance and financial assistance. Will the center accept your insurance? Does the center offer financial assistance to patients who need it?
  • Visit the center in person, if possible. This will give you a chance to meet the staff, see the facilities, and get a feel for the center's atmosphere.
  • Talk to people who have been to the center. Ask them about their experiences and whether they would recommend the center to others.
Choosing a rehab center is an important decision. By following these tips, you can find a free rehab center in Panama City, FL that is right for you.

Since many of our rehab centers are sliding scale, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Treatment Center of Panama City website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care based on your income from the sliding fee scale.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2023

Persons In Family Household Poverty Guideline Salary per year
1 $14,580
2 $19,720
3 $24,860
4 $30,000
5 $35,140
6 $40,280
7 $45,420
8 $50,560

For Households with more than 8 persons, add $4,480 for each additional person.
*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free treatment from some substance abuse centers, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

My life has been a roller coaster. I'm sure that it hasn't been any worse than others but I have learned to cope by getting high. I first tried meth in 2001 at the age of 14. I used recreationally until 2010. At that time I began daily use, lost my children, my home, vehicles, and destroyed the relationship with the mother of my children. In 2013 I went to jail for a year only to relapse 3 months after being home and used daily until being arrested in April of 2015 and in prison until March of 2017. I remained sober from the date of my arrest through may of 2018. During that time I really found myself, I got engaged to a long time friend, got full custody of my 5 children, and started a successful construction business. Everything went well until I opened that door again by drinking and using cocaine swearing I would never use meth again. Then I broke that promise to myself and started using daily. My fiance didn't know what was wrong, my kids didn't know, and eventually I got arrested again for spanking my daughter. I was jailed for 7 months all charges were dropped and upon my release I was almost back to my true self. My family and fiance were the strongest support ever throughout. We married on may 11th 2019 and the business was booming the kids were back with us and we got a nice place to live. The overall stress led me to cope by using again. Now I am back at square one. My children are suffering my wife is heartbroken and they don't trust me. My wife can't even look me in the eye but she holds on hoping for change. I can't function. I used to do an estimate in 15 minutes now it takes 2 hours. My projects and work have fell behind and snowballed. I don't associate with my family. We are all tired of this cycle. My ultimate goal is to find myself again. I want to be healthy, I want my mind back, my sober stable mind. I can't stand myself, my mannerisms, my actions, my integrity is shot, I need help and I need something that is going to stick with me, I want to do this so bad. I hate the drugs, I hate my choices. I hate the pain I cause and destruction that follows. I just want to be me, for me first and for my wife and children second. I want this more than I ever have. More is at stake now than there ever has been. My soul I feel is at stake, my wife and children are suffering greatly, wife's ready to leave, she's here for the kids at this point and they are her stepchildren. It's total torment in my mind all the time. I want to win this war once and for all.
