It is their goal to offer people with mental illness, intellectual disability, chemical dependency and HIV the opportunity to successfully achieve the outcomes they desire.

Who is eligible to receive substance abuse services?
Eligibility for substance abuse services varies depending upon the funding source and program type.  The determination of eligibility will be made by receiving an assessment.

In what ways can StarCare Specialty Health System help?
StarCare Specialty Health System manages a network of services for people with a chemical dependency.  Screenings and assessments are free and available to everyone, and treatment is available to individuals determined to be eligible.  All individuals found eligible for services will be given a choice of providers within Region 1.  These services help ensure that a person with a chemical dependency will be provided with the appropriate level of care through each stage of recovery.   Both adult and youth services.

Is this treatment center really free?

Most of the listings on this website are free; however, we decided it would also be helpful for our visitors to see sliding scale treatment centers (which are based on your income and you can qualify for free treatment) and low cost rehab centers for low income persons.

Tips on Choosing a Free Rehab Center in Lubbock, TX

  • Make sure the center is accredited. Accreditation means that the center has met certain standards of quality and patient care. You can find accredited rehab centers by visiting the websites of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Check the center's track record. How long has the center been in operation? What is its success rate? You can find this information by reading online reviews or by contacting the center directly.
  • Consider the center's treatment approach. Does the center offer a variety of treatment modalities, or does it focus on one approach? What is the center's philosophy on addiction treatment?
  • Find out what the center's aftercare program is like. Aftercare is essential to long-term recovery. Make sure the center you choose offers a comprehensive aftercare program.
  • Make sure the center is a good fit for you. Consider your individual needs and preferences when choosing a rehab center. For example, if you have a co-occurring mental health disorder, you'll need to find a center that offers dual diagnosis treatment.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Ask about the center's admission process. What documentation do you need to provide? Is there a waiting list?
  • Find out what the center's policies are on insurance and financial assistance. Will the center accept your insurance? Does the center offer financial assistance to patients who need it?
  • Visit the center in person, if possible. This will give you a chance to meet the staff, see the facilities, and get a feel for the center's atmosphere.
  • Talk to people who have been to the center. Ask them about their experiences and whether they would recommend the center to others.
Choosing a rehab center is an important decision. By following these tips, you can find a free rehab center in Lubbock, TX that is right for you.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2023

Persons In Family Household Poverty Guideline Salary per year
1 $14,580
2 $19,720
3 $24,860
4 $30,000
5 $35,140
6 $40,280
7 $45,420
8 $50,560

For Households with more than 8 persons, add $4,480 for each additional person.
*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free treatment from some substance abuse centers, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
