New Horizons Community Mental Health Center, Inc. is a health related organization which provides mental health, substance abuse, health screening and prevention services to adults, children, adolescents, and the elderly. The Agency’s mission and work is devoted to the provision of quality care to ethnic/ minority populations of Miami-Dade County. They are committed to providing high quality substance abuse and mental health care which is community based, culturally competent and consumer guided. They also provide following services:

The Assessment/Intake program is the central point of admission to all New Horizons programs Screening, assessments and intakes are provided to individuals seeking care for themselves or a family member.  Clients are assessed and referred to appropriate services within the New Horizons system.  Intake/Assessment services are provided on a walk-in, first come basis.

They accept Medicaid/Medicare, all Medicaid managed care plans and private insurances. A sliding fee scale is available for self-pay clients. At intake, you will need to bring proof of all income, a government issued identification and list of all current medications.

Substance Abuse:
The substance abuse program provides substance abuse counseling to adolescents and adults who have been determined to be involved or at risk for involvement  with illegal drug usage. In addition to a range of direct intervention services, the program provides outreach services as well as activities oriented toward increase community awareness and education relating to substance abuse and HIV education activities that are geared toward children, adolescents, adults and their families. Services are provided in schools, homes, businesses and/or religious institutions.

Psychosocial Rehabilitative Services (PSR):
Daily services aimed at long term recovery and maximization of self-sufficiency, emphasis on life management skills, social skills and independent living.

Project for Assistance for Transition from Homelessness (PATH) – Homeless Program
Program for adults who meet homeless eligibility criteria and have mental, substance abuse and/or medical problems. Services consist of scattered site housing, residential treatment facilities, case management and outpatient medical management and counseling.  Housing is provided in collaboration with Miami-Dade Housing Department.

Outpatient Clinic (OPC):
Medical – Psychiatric evaluation and pharmaceutical services to adults and children/adolescent clients in need of medication to manage their psychiatric illness.  This service includes provision of medication for low income clients.
Counseling/Therapy – Individual, family and/or group provided insight oriented, cognitive behavioral therapy enhancing their ability for personal, social and life management.
