About Capuchin Soup Kitchen - Jefferson House

The Capuchin Soup Kitchen sponsors Jefferson House,  a twelve-bed, residential treatment facility for indigent males seeking to reclaim their lives from addictions. Residents normally complete their rehabilitation in six to nine months.  They participate in twelve-step recovery meetings, and are encouraged to continue such participation following their departure from Jefferson House. The program also provides opportunity to work at other Capuchin Soup Kitchen locations, for which the men are paid a modest stipend.

My son needs help badly because of his worsening condition due to drug use. He has a heart condition now due to his many years of drug use. On top of everything else, his bipolar disease is not controlled because of his drug use. He is a very intelligent man who had earned his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Michigan years ago and had worked as an engineer in very responsible positions. Unfortunately, his addiction got the better of him and is now in jail because of it. I am at my wit's end with trying to get help for him. I do not know his state of mind at this point because I cannot visit him in jail now. All I know is that he is taking responsibility for his actions. Maybe he is at the point that he finally realizes he needs to give up the drugs in order to survive in this world. I sincerely hope and pray he does and I hope a place like yours will be the one that will help him do that. He is a Catholic by birth.
