About Keystone Substance Abuse Services

Keystone is committed to providing every citizen access to affordable, high quality nationally accredited behavioral health services, encompassing prevention, intervention and treatment, aimed at improving the quality of life of individuals, families and community affected by the problems associated with substance abuse.
They never want someone who needs Keystone to stay away because of cost. Keystone has to charge for services.

This is why.
-  Keystone is a not-for-profit organization.
-  Government funding only covers 34% of the cost of their basic services.
-  The state of South Carolina requires us to charge fees for their services.

Therefore they promise to work with everyone to make services affordable.

How they can help
-  Just ask.

Their staff will meet with you to see if you qualify for help with your bill.
-  Whether or not you apply for assistance, they will make an interest free Payment Plan that fits your family budget.
-  Keystone does not require you to pay up front to begin  services.
-  They accept Medicaid and most health insurance plans.
-  They accept cash, checks and most credit/ debit cards.
-  They offer discounts for those who pay in advance.
-  They promise to work with you if your financial situation changes or if you have a hardship.

Fees may be reduced according to set scales based on your household size and income.
Complete documentation of household income is required and must be provided at the time of service to be eligible.
There may be certain programmatic or flat fees that cannot be adjusted.

Is this treatment center really free?

Most of the listings on this website are free; however, we decided it would also be helpful for our visitors to see sliding scale treatment centers (which are based on your income and you can qualify for free treatment) and low cost rehab centers for low income persons.

Tips on Choosing a Free Rehab Center in Rock Hill, SC

  • Make sure the center is accredited. Accreditation means that the center has met certain standards of quality and patient care. You can find accredited rehab centers by visiting the websites of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Check the center's track record. How long has the center been in operation? What is its success rate? You can find this information by reading online reviews or by contacting the center directly.
  • Consider the center's treatment approach. Does the center offer a variety of treatment modalities, or does it focus on one approach? What is the center's philosophy on addiction treatment?
  • Find out what the center's aftercare program is like. Aftercare is essential to long-term recovery. Make sure the center you choose offers a comprehensive aftercare program.
  • Make sure the center is a good fit for you. Consider your individual needs and preferences when choosing a rehab center. For example, if you have a co-occurring mental health disorder, you'll need to find a center that offers dual diagnosis treatment.

Here are some additional tips:

  • Ask about the center's admission process. What documentation do you need to provide? Is there a waiting list?
  • Find out what the center's policies are on insurance and financial assistance. Will the center accept your insurance? Does the center offer financial assistance to patients who need it?
  • Visit the center in person, if possible. This will give you a chance to meet the staff, see the facilities, and get a feel for the center's atmosphere.
  • Talk to people who have been to the center. Ask them about their experiences and whether they would recommend the center to others.
Choosing a rehab center is an important decision. By following these tips, you can find a free rehab center in Rock Hill, SC that is right for you.

Free Rehab Centers in Nearby Cities

Since many of our rehab centers are sliding scale, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Keystone Substance Abuse Services website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care based on your income from the sliding fee scale.

Federal Poverty Guidelines for 2023

Persons In Family Household Poverty Guideline Salary per year
1 $14,580
2 $19,720
3 $24,860
4 $30,000
5 $35,140
6 $40,280
7 $45,420
8 $50,560

For Households with more than 8 persons, add $4,480 for each additional person.
*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free treatment from some substance abuse centers, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.

I was in this facility for several weeks from late September through the end of October in 2002. They we're great to me and the inpatient treatment i received saved my life. I was in Rock Hill all the way from Pittsburgh Pa and the Director was from a small township right outside Pittsburgh. So we got along pretty well. But the counseling i received really helped put me back on the right path. The help is there. But the patient needs to pull his end or you're essentially wasting everyone's time. I'd recommend this facility to anyone in search of help. God bless them
